What Is Permit2, and Why Do Some Token Approvals Look Different?
5 min read
Some swaps ask you to approve a contract called Permit2 before anything else happens, then switch to a free signature instead of a regular approval. Here is what Permit2 actually is and what it changes for you.
Clipboard Hijacking: Why the Address You Paste Isn't Always the One You Copied
5 min read
A type of malware called a clipper watches your clipboard and silently swaps a wallet address you copy for one the attacker controls. Here is how it works and how to protect yourself.
What is a contract ABI, and why your wallet sometimes can't explain a transaction

Your wallet usually tells you a transaction will swap tokens or grant an approval. Sometimes it just shows a wall of hex instead. Here is the piece of data behind that difference, and what to do when it is missing.
FAQ
Is Simple Base Swap custodial?+
No. It is fully non-custodial. Your private keys are generated and stored only on your device, encrypted with your password, and you sign every transaction yourself. We could not touch your funds even if we wanted to.
Do I need an account?+
No account, email or sign-up. You create or import a wallet and you are ready to go. We do not run analytics or trackers in the app either.
What does it cost?+
The app is free. When you swap, a 0.7% service fee is included in the displayed rate, and the exchange provider (0x) charges roughly 0.15% on the output amount. The rate you see on the review screen is the rate you get. Sending and receiving only cost the normal Base network fee, usually under a cent.
Which tokens can I swap?+
Any token that exists on the Base network. Popular tokens are listed out of the box, and you can add any other token by pasting its contract address.
How do I get funds into the wallet?+
Send ETH or any Base token to your address from an exchange that supports withdrawals on the Base network, or bridge from another network. The Receive screen shows your address and a QR code.
What if I lose my recovery phrase?+
Nobody can restore it for you, including us. That is the trade-off of self-custody: full control, full responsibility. Write the phrase down when you create the wallet and keep it offline in a safe place.
Is the same wallet available on my phone and in the browser?+
Yes. The web app, iOS app and Android app all use the same standards (BIP-39 and BIP-44), so one recovery phrase opens the same wallet everywhere. The same phrase also works in MetaMask and other standard wallets.
Why only Base?+
Because doing one thing well beats doing ten things halfway. A single network means no wrong-network mistakes, no confusing chain switching, and an interface that stays simple. Base is fast, cheap and backed by a large ecosystem.
